- xTool's spec table doesn't call out air assist separately; we've marked it built-in by analogy with the P2S it supersedes. Confirm on the listing if it matters for your workflow.
- Tom's Hardware reviewed it at a $6,999 MSRP, and its Amazon price widget showed $7,899 at the time; Amazon showed $6,299 (sold by xTool Lab) on Oct 29, 2026.
- Per xTool, the 5 W IR module, RA3 rotary and conveyor are sold separately unless bundled.
- The CO2 beam only marks coated metal; the optional IR module enables bare stainless and aluminum.

Specs are compiled from manufacturer listings and independent reviews and may change between production runs. Laser makers re-bundle often, so confirm what's in the box on the Amazon page before buying.
The xTool P3 is xTool’s flagship 80 W CO2 laser: a Class 1 machine with a 915 × 458 mm (36 × 18 in) bed, a built-in water chiller, built-in fire suppression and motorized autofocus. It’s our pick for the best CO2 and pro laser. It’s priced like production equipment, at about $6,299–7,899 (Amazon showed $6,299 on October 29, 2026; Tom’s Hardware reviewed it at a $6,999 MSRP), so check today’s price. At this level the decision is about throughput, and the profit calculator is the place to start.
Who the P3 is for (and who should skip it)
It’s for production shops, makerspaces, schools and busy small businesses that cut full sheets every day and need Class 1 safety in a space other people use. The 36 × 18 in bed is the largest of any laser we track, 1,200 mm/s speed cuts job times, and Class 1 certification plus fire suppression make it easier to justify in a classroom or shared studio than an open-tube CO2.
Skip it if you’re a home maker or a one-person shop starting out. The xTool P2S does much of the same work for less than half the price, if you can vent a Class 4 machine. Skip it if LightBurn is essential, or if you don’t have the floor space: the P3 weighs 231 lb and is about 1.25 m wide. For a Class 1 machine at a fraction of the cost and size, the xTool S1 40W is the diode alternative, without clear acrylic.
Key capabilities
xTool claims 20 mm basswood and 25 mm acrylic in one pass, including clear acrylic, and CO2 engraves glass directly. The motorized AutoLift gives 220 mm of height and handles autofocus, so tall objects and thick stock don’t need manual adjustment. Tom’s Hardware called the machine massive and found its automation slick and accurate, though the head bumped work in progress a couple of times during testing. That’s worth knowing if you cut warped sheets.
The built-in inverter water chiller is a practical upgrade over older CO2 designs. Traditional glass-tube machines, like the budget OMTech K40+, need a pump in a bucket or a separate chiller. On the P3, cooling is integrated and xTool says it keeps output stable across different room conditions.
Two notes on the spec sheet. xTool’s table doesn’t call out air assist separately; we list it as built in by analogy with the P2S, but confirm on the listing if it matters to your workflow. And CO2 marks only coated metal; the optional 5 W IR module is xTool’s route to bare stainless and aluminum.
What you’ll need beyond the box
- An exhaust route or a large purifier. xTool includes an IF2 2.0 inline fan with the P3, but you still need a duct run outside. Where that’s impossible, xTool positions its larger SafetyPro AP2 Max purifier for the P3, and the All-in-One bundle (about $9,559) includes it. Our ventilation guide covers duct runs and purifiers.
- No chiller to buy. Cooling is built in, which saves the cost and space of an external chiller.
- A stand and floor space. At 231 lb, the P3 needs a serious base, and xTool’s mobile work stand is extra. The Versatile Bundle (about $7,309) adds the stand, a conveyor feeder and the RA3 rotary. Plan the delivery and lift too.
- Eye protection for exceptions. As a Class 1 machine, the P3 needs no goggles in normal use. If you add the 5 W IR module, remember that 1064 nm needs its own eyewear for any maintenance with covers open. Check xTool’s manual for that setup.
- A backup extinguisher. Built-in CO2 fire suppression is a real safety feature, but keep an ABC extinguisher nearby and don’t leave cuts unattended.
- Material to justify it. Clear cast acrylic and plywood are where a CO2 earns its keep.

Reliability and warranty
xTool covers the P3 for 1 year, and its store lists a 14-day return policy. With only 25 Amazon ratings on October 29, 2026, there isn’t much owner history for a $6,000-plus purchase, so lean on xTool’s direct support and confirm warranty terms with the seller (Amazon’s offer was sold by xTool Lab). The 5 W IR module, RA3 rotary and conveyor are sold separately unless bundled, so compare bundles carefully against what your shop will actually use.
Bottom line
The P3 is the most capable and safest laser we track: a Class 1, 80 W CO2 with a 36 × 18 in bed, a built-in chiller, fire suppression and automation that reviewers found accurate. It’s also enormous, expensive and locked to xTool Studio. Buy it when throughput and safety in a shared space justify the price. Most home makers will be happier with the P2S. Accessories for the xTool P3
Official and universal add-ons sold on Amazon — safety glasses, fume extraction, air assist, rotaries and materials. Check the listing confirms your exact model before you buy.
- RotaryxTool RA3 MagSwap smart rotaryOfficial xTool
xTool's newer rotary with LiDAR mapping and magnetic mode swaps, built for the P3 and F-series.
- SafetyCARLANY 190–490 nm OD6+ laser safety glassesUniversal fit
Blue-diode protection for anyone near an open-frame laser, or when you lift the lid or override an interlock on an enclosed one. Covers 445–455 nm blue diodes only; does not protect against 1064 nm IR/fiber or 10.6 µm CO2. Match the OD rating to your laser's wavelength.
- SafetyAmerex B417T 2.5 lb ABC fire extinguisher with bracketUniversal fit
Lasers cut by burning; a small ABC extinguisher mounted beside the machine is the cheapest fire insurance you can buy. Dry-chemical powder can ruin a laser's optics and electronics; LightBurn recommends a CO2 extinguisher for the machine itself.
- SafetyAmerex 322 5 lb carbon dioxide (CO2) fire extinguisherUniversal fit
Class B:C CO2 leaves no powder residue, so it puts out a fire in the machine without destroying the optics. Pricier than ABC; not rated for Class A (wood/paper) fires on its own, so keep a fire blanket too.
- SafetyPrepared Hero emergency fire blanket, 39 × 39 in (2-pack)Universal fit
Smothers a flare-up on the bed without coating the machine's optics in extinguisher powder.
- Fumes & enclosureAC Infinity Cloudline S4 4-inch inline duct fan with speed controllerUniversal fit
Boosts a laser's built-in exhaust over long duct runs so smoke actually leaves the room. Check your machine's exhaust port diameter; adapters may be needed.
- Fumes & enclosureVIVOSUN 4-inch aluminum ducting, 25 ft with clampsUniversal fit
Replaces short stock hoses so you can reach a window or wall vent; foil duct tolerates hot exhaust better than vinyl.
- Materials3 mm basswood plywood sheets, 12 × 12 in (12-pack)Universal fit
The default test and project stock for every laser here; 12 × 12 in fits all but the smallest beds. Cut down for the 150 mm A1C or galvo machines.
- MaterialsClear cast acrylic sheets, 12 × 12 × 1/8 in (10-pack)Compatible, third-party
Cast acrylic cuts with flame-polished edges on a CO2 laser; it's the material that justifies buying one. CO2 only: blue diodes pass straight through clear acrylic.
- MaterialsVIBRATITE 4-inch square black slate coasters (60-pack)Universal fit
Best-selling laser blank: slate engraves light grey on black with any diode, CO2 or IR source.
